Night Walkers Event 6

Description

Things had finally settled down. The raging dragon had been sealed away, Tao was rebuilt, and the team was back together-plus one. There is still the factor of returning the plant life to the village of course, and Team Night Walkers was ready and willing to work with the other guild members to change things for the better. Milton, as usual, was psyched up regardless of how simple the task was. This time though it wasn’t just for himself and his new abilities, but also for the new member of his adoptive family.
He new Franky couldn’t see, at least not yet, but he knew when she got older she’d be able to as a Hydreigon. He wanted to make sure she had something to enjoy now and to look forward to. He and Sally received as many planting materials as they could handle and set off on their tasks. “I’m going to work on removing and replanting trees. I’ll catch you two later,” Milton sang with a large grin on his face. Sally couldn’t help but chuckle as she carried a basket of seeds, bulbs, and berries.
“We’re gonna plant some things around Tao and the ranch,” Sally replied with a grin of her own. Franky had no idea what any of these things were, but the earthy smell coming from the basket made her happy enough to wag her stumpy tail. Milton laughed at how cute Franky was when she was excited.
“Alright, what say we meet up at the accessory shop and see the new things? We got a couple vouchers to blow after all,” Milton suggested. Sally nodded in agreement and the trio set off to perform their tasks.

Milton got to work on uprooting trees. The shock they endured from the extreme weather changes made them weak, but a few ice beams and hydro pumps made things much easier. As he used his size to force the trees to fall, Milton used his tail to plop saplings in the holes the trees made. He would fix the dirt around them once all of them were in the ground.
In the mean time, Sally was teaching Franky how to plant the things they were given. As a start they began planting tulip bulbs around the moat. They fit in Franky’s mouth easily, and the hole depth was able to be dug quickly by Sally. The first attempt led to Sally scolding Franky as she attempted to eat it. Franky whined and shuffled her stumpy legs about in the soft soil causing Sally to sigh. The old Stunky looked around before pulling a Watmel berry out of the basket she was assigned, the berry being large enough to split and still have enough left to plant.
“Now this ain’t a reward, this is just so yah got something tah look forward to once everything’s grown. You get half now, and once that sprite makes everythin’ grow we’ll prolly be able to get a lot more. But yah gotta be patient Franky, can’t go eatin’ everythin’ yet. And bulbs sure as heck ain’t food,” Sally explained and offered the berry half to Franky.
The Deino didn’t understand what Sally said, but she understood that she wasn’t supposed to eat the funny, earthy tasting things at least. The young dragon daintily took the berry half and ate it with gusto. She wagged her nubby little tail again and was ready to take another crack at planting bulbs. It wasn’t long before Franky and Sally got a rhythm similar to Milton’s set up as Sally dug holes and Franky popped bulbs in them.

Sally and Franky had gone through the seeds when Milton rejoined them. He was covered in ash and soot causing Sally to jump back slightly. “What on earth were you doin’ boy?” Sally blurted out. Milton just laughed.
“Oh, some Mawile and Riolu asked me to help them burn the fallen logs. The Riolu used blaze kick and I helped control the fire. I got a bit dirty I guess,” Milton said with a warm smile. Sally gave a relieved laugh and smiled back. Even Franky, who had no idea what was going on, couldn’t help but smile and wag her tail.
“Yah came in time tah help plant the berries,” Sally said and reached a paw into the…empty…basket. “…” Sally looked at Franky, her nose wrinkled and eyes half shut. Franky continued wagging her tail and shuffled around a little. “Consarn it Franky, yah done gone and ate the berries, didn’t yah?” Franky shuffled more and dipped her head down. That tone just oozed with “you’re in trouble missy.” Sally sighed and shook her head. “Ain’t nothing’ doin’ tah change the past. I’ll go return the basket, you two have fun lookin’ around the shop,” Sally announced and headed off to the Merchant building.
Milton laughed softly and picked Franky up before setting the tiny Deino on his head. She clung to him as best she could with her tiny limbs, and Milton made sure to move slowly to avoid her losing her grip. The duo slid into the store, Milton noting it was quite busy due to the new items. Franky sniffed the air, all the new scents mixing together in a strange but fascinating bouquet. Milton checked the new supplies when something caught his attention-a rather poofy brown and cream hat. He tilted his head ever so slightly and gently picked one up to examine it.
After a few moments Milton placed Franky down and told her to stay close as he placed the cap on his head and looked around for a mirror. Franky, of course, had no idea what that meant and scurried off to explore. “Heh…not bad…” Milton muttered and tilted his head to examine himself in the hat from a few angles. “Hey Franky, I found something I like so how-” His eyes widened in horror as he saw Franky had left his side. Filled with panic the serpentine Pokemon slid about the store as quick as he could in search of the tiny dragon.
“Franky? Franky?!” Milton called out and gnawed on his fins. He whined as he poked his head in any place the small Pokemon could likely fit when he felt a tap on his back. He spun around to find a Leavanny with an awkward smile holding Franky. Milton cocked his head not at the Pokemon holding Franky but what she had so proudly in her mouth-a sort of saddle bag.
“Ah, excuse me, I saw you two walk in together so I assumed this is the ‘Franky’ you were calling for earlier,” the Leavanny said with a laugh.
“Oh, thank you, haha, she’s not very old so I guess she doesn’t know a lot of words still,” Milton replied and picked up Franky.
“Yes, I found her sniffing at the bags and sticking her head in the pouches. I assume she has quite the appetite?” Milton laughed and rubbed the back of his head.
“Ah, yeah, she even, ah…Well apparently ate some of the things we were going to plant.” The two adult Pokemon shared a laugh over the youngster’s shenanigans.
“Well, perhaps she’d like a bag then, she could carry around her own snacks instead of eating things she’s not meant to,” the Leavanny suggested with a genuine smile. Milton rubbed his chin in thought. They had two vouchers, so he could get the hat and bag. He laughed and gave a large grin before nodding.
“Great idea, we just gotta wait for-”
“Nice hat,” said a familiar voice with a laugh. Milton jumped slightly, his antennae twitching slightly as the Stunky he was just about to mention leaned on his body with a grin, her head propped up on a paw. She then held up a couple vouchers which the Leavanny accepted happily in exchange for the new items obtained. The trio then left, excited and eager for the festival that was planned.
